Admission to School of the Arts is by Audition Only.

To audition, you must complete two sets of application forms: one for SOTA and the other for the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD).

SOTA application forms and instructions can be viewed and printed from this website.  You will need Acrobat Reader in order to access this file. A Completed application packet must be hand delivered to the SOTA admissions office prior to the application deadline. We will review it for completeness before an audition date is assigned.  

The admissions office will be open to process applications starting Monday, November 2.  Processing hours are:  Monday through Thursday, 8:00 am to 12:00 noon, Friday 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.  Applications for the January audition will be accepted no later than Friday, December 18, 2009, at 3:00pm.  We do not accept mailed applications or make timed appointments.

Some arts disciplines require portfolio or other work. Check audition requirements, including deadlines, by department.

Return completed SFUSD applications to the Educational Placement Center, 555 Franklin Street, room 100, or at the SFUSD school you currently attend. You will find enrollment application forms for next year at SFUSD, SOTA or other SFUSD schools sometime in November.  Remember to list SOTA as one of your high school choices.  It does not have to be listed as your first choice as enrollment is based on the audition process.

Auditions are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis after application paperwork is complete. A confirmation letter giving the date and time of your audition will be mailed to the address on your application form. Carefully review this information so you are well prepared for your audition. You may audition in only one art discipline on any given audition date.
