Admission to SOTA is by audition only!

To audition, you must complete two sets of application forms, one for SOTA and the other for the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD).  You must also comply with the audition requirements as outlined (click here for requirements by discipline).

SOTA application forms and instructions can be viewed and printed from this website.  You will need Acrobat Reader in order to access this file.  (Click here for the SOTA application and teacher recommendation forms).  A completed application packet (application, student essay, a copy of your most-recent report card, and at lease one teacher recommendation) MUST be hand-delivered to the SOTA office prior to the deadline.  All of the pieces of the application packet MUST be received by December 3 before an audition is assigned.

The Admissions Team will start to accept application packets on Monday, November 1, 2010.  Packets can be dropped off any time between November 1 and December 3 during school hours. We do not accept mailed, FAXed, or emailed applications or forms; however, teacher recommendation forms may be mailed directly by the teacher.  We do not make timed appointments.  Applications must be received before the final deadline of Friday, December 3 at 3:00, and must be complete in order to be considered for an audition.

NOTE:  Creative Writing and Visual Arts require a portfolio of work.  Please review the audition requirements, including deadlines, for these departments.

Completed SFUSD applications should be submitted to the Educational Placement Center (EPC) at 555 Franklin Street, Room 101.  If you are currently enrolled in the SFUSD please see your counselor for instructions.  Those living outside the district can check the SFUSD website under Enrollment for instructions:www.sfusd.edu .  Remember to list SOTA as one of your high school choices.

A confirmation letter giving the date and time of your audition will be mailed to the address on your application form, within two weeks of the deadline date.  You may audition for only one discipline on audition day.
